“Does People Have as Fun as it Seems”

Something I have been thinking about a lot lately is “Do people really have as fun as they make it seem”. Okay, I’m not here to bring you down or make us all feel bad, it’s not like I wanna die every single day. However, with social media being so central and such a focus of our life, I feel like we become blind to reality. Lately, I have caught myself looking at friends and celebrities’ instagram posts and thought to myself “they always have something to do”, and it makes me feel like shit. Some days I literally just wake up, I go to work, I workout, I eat and then I sleep.

For me, those days are pretty normal, and I’m not saying I hate it, I just don’t think we are showing a realistic lifestyle on social media. And believe me I get it. Social media is not the place to be completely raw and only show the daily. That wouldn’t be interesting right? But we are creating impossible standards to live up to, because frankly, nothing on instagram is real.

Sometimes I just wished we all could agree that an average day is nothing outside the ordinary. Not every day has to be this crazy adventure where we hang out with 14 different people and attend three events. Because that is not life. Life is your everyday life, life is not one party, it’s your normal day to day.

With this being said, I’m not here to tell you to walk around and be sad all the time. Instead I have gathered together some tips and tricks on how I romanticize my life, just to make every single day a little bit more special. The thing is, I used to hate when people are like, “Romanticize your life and you’ll be happy”, like f’ck no. That doesn’t make me happy. However, it does help you to kind of get a purpose to why you do something. Because, at least for me, I have to know why I’m doing something for it to have a purpose. Like going to work. I need money so I have to go, you know. And laundry, I need clean clothes, so I do it. But life. I truly don’t know what the purpose is, like what is the bigger picture. So instead of finding it, I turned the table. I started doing all these things for my life to have a purpose.

Have a set morning and night routine

See this might sound stupid, I know. But waking up and knowing how the first hour of your day will look helps me a lot. When I wake up, I know the first thing I’ll do is take a shower, not go on my phone. This sets the tone for my day. I’m done with the shower, I do skincare. While I do all these things, I listen to music and dance around. Silly, I know, but such a relief in the morning. I’m happy doing this. Same thing goes for your night routine. Set a tone for the night as you come home from your last event of the day. I have started writing in this “5 minute Journal” and it has help me set a tone for the day, and in the evening reflect the day I have had.

Dress up and get ready

It takes me 30 minutes to do my makeup. And before I thought it was the most wistful time ever. However, I realized that I truly enjoy not only those 30 minutes of creativity where I can just do my makeup in peace. I also enjoy being all fixed up. I like to feel put together, it makes the rest of my tasks that day easier. Same thing goes with dressing up. It’s like I know, when I wear makeup and an outfit I’m in “work mode”.

Drinking your beverage

I’m a coffee girl. However, whatever your morning drink is, it should be enjoyed in peace. Take ten minutes out of your day to just sit down in the sun, in front of the fireplace (or your TV-fireplace), out on the deck or in your favorite chair. I currently read two books, one of them being a “self help” book called: “The mountain is you”. And the other one being “Hopeless”.

Put on a youtube music list

On youtube there are thousands of playlists already pre-made, fitting for a certain mood. Let’s say you just woke up and want a vibe of France, listen to this. Or maybe you wanna feel like a powerful girl, then listen to this. Whatever your mood is, it can be matched perfectly with a playlist. Literally makes the greatest difference in one’s mood.

Have planed nights:

Plan out your week and what you are doing during three nights. Like Monday is movie day, Wednesday is takeout day and Friday is dance party day. Having this to look forward to every single Week makes life more enjoyable.

So these are just a few ways for me to be more excited about life. Remember, not every day is a dance on roses and that okey. Life is your every day, so make every day great.

Until next time…
